How to use this site

Welcome to this WebQuest.  This Webquest offers you a collection of activities to do with your students, and the support and resources you'll need to implement the activities.  It also provides an interactive student area (Discussion Forum) where your students can write, and contribute.

This WebQuest's first goal is to give an introduction to the right concepts of healthy life and healthy eating.  The second goal is to teach students how to analyse and critically evaluate the bad eating styles (eating junk food regularly) of somebody.

An additional goal of this WebQuest is to promote Information Literacy.  Students will need to locate and analyze information from the Web to complete the task.  In order to teach this WebQuest successfully, the teacher should be able to coach students to successfully find the desired information on their own.

If you have not taught WebQuest units in the past, it will be a challenge for you as an educator to accept that students will find different and possibly conflicting information which you will have to help them interpret.

Students will need to use problem-solving strategies and critical thinking during this WebQuest and you should be prepared to guide them to successfully learn and apply these techniques as the need arises.  You may provide a lesson in Web search strategies using keyword searches.  Which you may find helpful in preparing your students.

What are WebQuests?

WebQuests are web-based learning environments that allow students to do research and presentations of their findings using resources on and off the Internet.  By following the given procedures for each task, students visit related web sites, read reference materials, collect, organize and present information.  The traditional methods of completing assignments is extended to include electronic representation of data.  Students can access video clips, sound bytes, biographies and images not typically available to them.  WebQuests take students beyond the walls of the classroom to gather information.
